On The Color Gray

My favorite color to surround myself with is...gray?

I've always found that a tad strange though. Like pink is neat, blue is pleasant, but gray feels...peaceful? Unassuming? Sophisticated?

Gray reminds me of suburban homes, the strict lines of contemporary high rise buildings, my favorite scarf, my first turtleneck sweater dress...

It's the space between black and white - where the intellectual conversation is.

Gray feels safe and comfortable. Sometimes gray is the statement color and other times gray is the comfortable backdrop to a much prettier piece of artwork.

Honestly, I couldn't find a singular reason to love such a plain color, but my heart feels calm near it. Perhaps it is why I feel the most comfortable walking amongst the seas of lofty buildings and oceans of sidewalks so many miles away from my home. Maybe it's why my heart feels soothed by fluffy neutral blankets and soft cats of a similar shade.

Gandalf was gray before he died the first time, I guess.

I suppose I should go out and buy more gray decor for my home or something.
